## About THE Project

Dibz is a professional marketplace and Shopify sales channel designed to help retail brands sell their dead stock, overstock, and last season’s inventory. The platform provides an efficient way for merchants to convert excess inventory into revenue while reducing waste and appealing to environmentally conscious consumers. Dibz needed a robust, scalable Shopify sales-channel application that could efficiently handle large product catalogs, sync inventory across multiple stores, and deliver a seamless merchant experience. However, existing critical bugs and performance limitations were restricting growth and preventing brands from fully leveraging the platform.

Spiral Scout stepped in to audit, enhance, and optimize the Dibz Shopify integration, ensuring it was stable, scalable, and performant for merchants managing high product volumes.

 Challenges Handling Large Product Catalogs Without Slowing Down the System

 

Dibz needed to support thousands of product listings, but Shopify’s built-in product limits caused serious performance bottlenecks. The initial system was capped at displaying only 250 products, which made it nearly impossible for merchants to scale effectively.



 

 Solutions Code Review and Strategic Development

 

To solve this, [our software development company](../../) implemented a Laravel microservice that optimized pagination and data retrieval, increasing the maximum product count from 250 to over 10,000 while maintaining system speed. This eliminated lag, improved browsing efficiency, and ensured a seamless experience for merchants managing high-volume inventory.




 

 

 Challenges Ensuring Real-Time Data Synchronization Across Shopify Stores

 

Inventory discrepancies were a persistent issue due to delayed or missing product updates between Dibz and Shopify merchants’ stores. This led to mismatched stock levels, customer frustration, and order processing errors.

We rebuilt the data synchronization engine to facilitate real-time updates, ensuring that any product changes made on Dibz reflected instantly in connected Shopify stores. Merchants were encountering multiple high-priority bugs that prevented them from adding or modifying product listings. Without a stable system, Dibz risked losing merchant trust and adoption.

Our team conducted an in-depth code audit, identified the root cause of these issues, and deployed targeted fixes. By implementing comprehensive testing protocols, we ensured that all previous pain points were resolved, creating a stable, reliable platform that merchants could trust.




 

 

 Challenges Optimizing UX/UI for a More Intuitive Merchant Experience

 

The initial version of the platform had a complex, unclear UI, making it difficult for merchants to easily list, filter, and manage their products. This led to frustration and slower adoption.

We conducted user research and A/B testing to pinpoint areas of friction, leading to UX/UI refinements that improved merchant navigation, simplified the onboarding process, and made product filtering more intuitive. To handle large product catalogs without slowdowns, [our Shopify experts](../../services/shopify-development) developed a Laravel-based microservice that optimized database queries, allowing the platform to efficiently process and display over 10,000 products without performance degradation.

### Real-Time Data Synchronization Engine

We overhauled the data transfer and syncing mechanism, ensuring instant updates between Dibz and Shopify stores. This eliminated stock discrepancies and improved merchant operations.









## Project results

Following the successful implementation of technical optimizations, bug fixes, and performance enhancements, the Dibz Shopify sales-channel app significantly improved in reliability, efficiency, and scalability. Merchants can now list, manage, and sell overstock inventory without hitting platform limitations, resulting in higher sales volume and greater adoption of the Dibz platform. By improving real-time synchronization, order processing accuracy has increased, and merchant operations have become more streamlined..

Dibz’s improved technical foundation and platform stability made it an attractive acquisition target, leading to the company being successfully acquired by Treet, a leader in resale commerce solutions.

## During the discovery process, we discovered there was a much larger product list than anticipated. Having such a large list threatened to negatively impact the site speed. As a result, we choose to build a microservice on Laravel to bridge the gap between the product data and the live site, which kept the site lean and quick for a smooth user experience.
